The following web links and instructions help you join the classroom, install the software and provide hints and resources for promoting collaboration in virtual classrooms environments:

 ·         Joining the Virtual Classroom (there are two functionally identical ways to access the virtual classroom):

  1. We will email you a special URL Link to the virtual classroom a day or two day before your presentation. You can click that link from your email application or paste it into your browser address window (please include your email address in with your return package if we do not already have it OR let us know how to contact you).

  2. If you don’t have access to your email, you can always go to the CIRCL seminar website link: http://www.circl.pitt.edu/home/seminars.htm. Click on the vClass icon in the first column from the left for your presentation and it will launch the virtual classroom.

  • These links are only active an hour or so before the session and has no functionality before then.

  • Once in the room you will be manually assigned moderator status.

  • Please log in about 20 minutes prior to your presentation so we can check your sound quality

  • If we received your PowerPoint's ahead of time, they will be loaded for you. If not, we will instruct you how to load them yourself (see below)

·        How to Load a PowerPoint files into the Virtual Classroom:

Before you begin:

  • The Elluminate Live! virtual classroom application window must be open.

  • You must have moderator status to load content.

  • If PowerPoint is running, please close it or the import will fail.

  • Note, Powerpoint animations and transitions are not imported. You may need to tweak your PowerPoint Slides beforehand if animations and overlays hide key points on your slides.

Once you are in the virtual classroom:

  1. Go to the File menu, Load/Whiteboard.

  2. At the Select Screens dialog box check OK.

  3. At the Load File dialog box, change the Files of Type to Filter for PowerPoint File.

  4. For better quality, check the Better Quality radio button under import options (advised).

  5. Browse for the Powerpoint file on your computer in the Load File dialog box.

  6. Once you find it, click the file name and then click the Open button.

  7. Wait while the PowerPoint Images are imported into the virtual classroom whiteboard. Depending on the speed of your computer it may take a couple of minutes or so.

  8. You have now imported your PowerPoint slides. Use the forward and backward controls at the top left of the whiteboard to see what has been imported.

Powerpoint converterPowerPoint™ Converter for Elluminate Live! allows you to create special higher resolution, larger size whiteboard files from PowerPoint presentations. Use this option for combined presentations in front of live classrooms and internet audiences.

You can email support@elluminate.com with any technical questions (or call 866-388-8674 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm MST). Please use these contacts if you are having software installation problems.
